28 Sep From runway to closet
Good morning lovers, how is everyone doing today? Did you survive the weekend after the pay day? Well, I had a great weekend! Sunday days off can only mean one thing. Sunday. Runday. To be honest, I couldn’t stop raving about it.
Today’s post is all about the great 80’s! Big hair, big earrings, big shoulder pads. Spring/summer was all about the love, peace, boho, and 70’s. Even though I was madly in love with the 70’s and couldn’t keep my hands off my flares and button down skirt. It is pleasantly nice to see some fresh 80’s influence on the runway.
High-fashion runways often show avant -garde styles that are almost impossible to implement in your own wardrobe. While you wouldn’t want to wear designers entire looks into your style, you can still take some inspiration from powerful fashion houses. I fell in love with the Topshop Unique collection. 80’s vibe with cool british attitude! It was all about bringing back old school granny dresses with cool british rock n roll attitude. They painted the picture of an adventurous, ambitious, smart and fun girl who is not afraid to party her ass off on the weekend after a hard week.
This blog post is about taking inspiration from the runway and brining it into your own wardrobe. My look screams Topshop Unique. High fashion designer clothes are not affordable to everyone. You can still bring the runway vibe into your closet.
Here is how to do it:
- Fashion shows are all about the inspiration and theme. Read fashion blogs and interviews from the designer/creative directors to understand the inspiration.
- Follow the pattern and colour palette. Eg: Black&white print & culottes
- Understand the key pieces from the look. For e.g.: Pinstripe coat and fluffy shoes are the key pieces.
- Accessories and make up. Eg: Bow belt, big earrings and red lips.
This look was created spontaneously after watching the show. The idea is to pick things from your closet that already exist and make it work. Hope this inspires your to take a fresh look into your own closet.
PS: Let me know if you have a huge crush on the particularly look and want me to break it down to your closet. I would be happy to help and do a full blog post on that piece.
Wish you all a great week.
