So here I am, perfect outfit with a random post. Well, hope you guys don’t mind me being a bit off  beat today. It’s my birthday and I do what I want to. Haha.. So I am feeling a bit valunerable today and hope thats okay with you.

Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.

Vulnerability is the scary thing. It’s to be able to share yourself and make yourself vulnerable and to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength. It was a year ago that I went on this journey of blogging. Honestly, it took about 6 months before I showed my blog to public. I talked about it a lot to people but it took a lot of courage to be able to finally say “Here I am”. My intention when I started this blog was to be real and build connect with you all.

It’s a year and I am not leaving. So let me know if you think their is anything I can add or do more to keep you going on this journey with me.

Pajama Blazer by Topshop, Bag by Zara, Shoe by Topshop, Necklace by Shop Lune

What do you think people who wear pajamas in public have given on life or living it to the fullest? I am going to have to say, FULLEST! Last week I wore this outfit to work and I fell in love. 9 hours in this suit and I start to think, what took me so long to wear my pajamas to work? In fact, I am thinking of getting myself this new pajama blazer that landed in Topshop.

If you’re worried about looking sloppy, don’t be. Look to streets or Pinterest for inspiration. The point here is to keep it simple and let the hero piece do the talking. This trend is all about minimalist chic so keep your accessories simple and add nice pair of heels. If you are a busy bee like me and  have to run up and down the floors for 8 hours then skip heels for cool pair of kicks.

Will you try it?

Some things never go out of style… like leopard print & double denim.

I will always pull out my double denim when I am short of time & not sure what to wear. Double denim have always been fashions favourite baby. They would always surface around fashion week, magazine covers and street style.

Feeling like Kate Moss & Donna Pinciotti from 70s show,  I am wearing my double denim with leopard coat.

Almost a month ago I was in this paradise. Land of beautiful beaches, lush forest, portuguese influenced culture and biggest hippie land in India. This is what I call it home! Growing up here I never really appreciated the beauty of this place. Instead I tired everything to move away from here quickly. Who would have thought after 10 years I would do anything to run back to this. 10 years and nothing has changed around here.

It’s no secret that Goa is one among the top hippie destinations in India. Whether you want to lose yourself in trance or psychedelic music, lay by the ocean or get lost in it’s rain forest, Goa offers everything.  There are various beaches that aren’t disturbed and you can always rent a beach shack and simply doze off under the trees. So, If you planning to escape the european winter than head to this little sunny island. October until the February is the peek tourist time in Goa. During this time the temperatures drop to about 25-30 degrees during day and 20 degrees at night.

Which one would you pick? North VS South? Well, it really depends what you prefer. North Goa is more lively, full moon parties, party until dawn, international cuisine, beach clubs and bar. South on the other hand is more relaxed with calm rustic and best beaches. Beautiful beaches, rice paddies and palms as far as the eyes can see by the coast. But, venture a little further and you’ll find yourself in thick forests. Indulge yourself and want to be close to nature than south Goa is a total treat.

Going through this pictures did brighten up my grey dutch morning. Hope this brings some sunshine into your’s as well.

winter skin care essentials

IMG_2118

Winter can only mean one thing, freaking cold. With dropping temperatures and humidity plunging low, this weather leaves our skin dry and itchy. Normal moisturiser is not good enough to protect and nourish your skin. I don’t know about you but during winter I like to moisturise my body at least twice a day. Dry skin can also be super annoying and cause more complications like cracked and inflammation.

I still remember my first winter in Europe. I was so cold and lazy all the time. Haha… Growing up in the tropical, I didn’t know what to expect. I struggled the first 2 months to figure out my beauty regime to suit the weather. I ended up trying lots of different products — herbal oils, vegan/organic creams, body butter, moisturising foundation etc etc…  When you have difficult skin like mine – sensitive, oily and dry. It might take some time to find the right products. Out of my own experience, I learnt that a little hope and patience could finally get you there. Its usual for your skin to react initially. Don’t freak out. Instead give your skin some time to get use to the new brand. Don’t expect instant results and follow a consistent routine.

I still thank that day when I was first introduced to this brand. Forest Essential takes the holistic approach to beauty care and uses the traditional method of Ayurveda. There products are  based on organic pressed oils, which are 100% free from arabens, Petroleum, GMO, Formaldehyde, PEGS, artificial colour synthetic fragrance and animal testing

  1. Velvet silk body cream: This body butter is a real miracle. This is perfect for someone with dry skin. It’s particularly hard to find a good moisturiser for a dry skin that is non greasy. This body butter is very nourishing, absorbs quickly leaving your skin smooth and silky. Best thing about this is it’s non greasy and keeps my skin nourished for long. This cream also helped lighten my stretch  marks. So, If you are a fitness freak like me and are prone to stretch marks, than this body cream is a blessing.

Forest Essential – I hope you do more sizes in them. I particularly would like a bigger tub since I tend to use a lot.

IMG_2158

Sanjeevani Beauty Elixir: This cream is light and yet very hydrating. Also provides protection against winter sun and has anti ageing properties. I have been using this cream for almost 2 years and I am very happy with it. During winter you could use few drops with your foundation and apply on the face. This keeps my skin hydrated longer and helps prevent skin flaking.

Sanjeevani herb is also mentioned in Ramayan read all about it Click here

IMG_2130

Sugared rose petal lip balm: Do you fancy kissable lips during winter? Sugared rose petal lip balm is so nourishing and yet very delicious. This little jar is everything to me!

Queen of all Yoga poses! Shoulderstand or Salamba Sarvangasana

IMG_1725

Hola!

Hope everyone is ready to kickstart this week. Well, I am feeling extra excited after my holidays. Last 3 weeks were amazing and obviously it went by super fast.

Today I am talking about mother of all asana; Shoulder Stand or Salamba Sarvangasana. B.K.S Iyengar referred shoulder stand as the Queen of Asana or Sarvangasana. In Iyengar’s own words (book of yoga) ’Light on Yoga’ “The importance of Sarvangasana cannot be over-emphasised. It is one of the greatest boons conferred on humanity by our ancient sages. Sarvangasana is the Mother of asanas. As a mother strives for harmony and happiness in the home, this asana strives for harmony and happiness in the human system. it is a panacea for most common ailments.”

Do you know what Sarvangasana actually means? In Sanskrit, Sarva means “all” or “entire” and Anga means “organ” or “body part.” Translated, it means “full body pose” because of its benefits for the whole body. Since it helps the entire body you ca not ignore the benefits from this pose. In fact Sri Dharma Mittra states that “some yogi’s only do this pose,” and it can be held from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. So Sarvangasana is cure to all: from common cold to constipation.

Here are some of the positive effects of Shoulder Stand:

1) Answer to thyroid imbalance: This pose is proven to balance thyroid and hypothalamus glands. It brings blood to the thyroid and parathyroid, helping them properly secrete hormones.

2)  Strengthens the heart and lungs: Due to the inverted position, it reduces strain on the heart. It gives the heart a break from working so hard and helps to oxygenate the lungs. This pose has positive effect on people suffering from asthma, bronchitis and throat ailments may get relief.

3) Soothes and calms the nervous system: Sarvangasana is an answer to people who are easily irritated or prone to anger or nervous breakdowns. Daily practice of Sarvangasana will stabilise and make you less reactive to life’s circumstances.

4) Reduces constipation: Because of the inversion and change in gravitation the bowels move freely and constipation is relieved.

5) Activates throat chakra ( VISUDDAH): Shoulderstand is also practice to activate our fifth chakra. This chakra is associated with creativity and self expression. When this Chakra is open, our negative experiences can easily be transformed into wisdom and leaning.

6) Treats insomnia: Practicing Shoulderstand promotes deep sleep and therefore help cure insomnia.

7) Reduces wrinkles: Did you know that Marilyn Monroe was a yogi and practiced Shoulderstand daily? Well, Due to increased blood flow to the face, wrinkles can be reduced.

As with many yoga postures, there are contraindications.

  •  People with high blood pressure, detached retina, glaucoma, hernias, cardiovascular disease, cervical spondylitis, and/or slipped discs should not practice shoulderstand.
  • If you have or have had a neck injury, seek advice from an experienced yoga teacher before beginning to practice shoulderstand.
  • Avoid during pregnancy.
  • It is advised that women avoid inversions when menstruating.
  • To receive similar benefits in a more restorative way, try placing a block under the sacrum to elevate the hips above the heart for Vipartita Karani (or legs up the wall)

How to do Shoulderstand:

Place the heels of the palms at the small of your back with the fingertips pointing up towards the ceiling. Lift the legs up high into the air into Shoulder Stand.Move the chin away from your chest, pull in through the belly and tuck the pelvis under. You want the ankles to be stacked above the knees, knees above the hips and hips above shoulders in one straight line.Exhale to release the knees back to the chest and slowly roll down the spine. Keep the knees in and slowly rock side to side.

Note: Shoulder stand is considered to be an intermediate to advanced pose. Do not perform this pose without prior experience or unless you are performing under the supervision of an experienced instructor.

Some of you who know me personally know that I practice yoga in the morning before stepping of the house. Shoulderstand is one of the posture that I will do every single day. It has personally helped me in many ways. Hope you guys are inspired to practice and get on that mat everyday. Girlies, If you have no experience and are still curious to practice, then feel free to write to me. If I get few responses; I might invest my time and do a beginners guide to this pose.

Stop, Drop & Yoga.

Have a great week.

Hi lovelies, how have you all been? It’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post. Well, as you all know, I am on a vacation. Quick stop in Dubai and straight home for Diwali! This Diwali was a special one for me.  My favourite festival of the year plus I was home with my family.

Well, Dubai was great expect for one thing, phone crisis all over again. One morning I woke up to a dead phone. Haha… in a weeks time I had a new phone from Apple. Well, I tried my best to bring alive my dead phone. But it didn’t workout. Since, I managed to get 2 phones in a month – I decided to share some tips and tricks to tackle iPhone crisis.

If you managed to get your phone drunk or share some of your coffee than be ready to kiss your phone good bye. Apple, will not replace your phone even under icare unless you have a separate insurance that takes care of water damage. Well, the good news is Apple will offer to replace your iPhone(6) on payment of €310.

Second scenario. What if you wake up to a dead phone? Or what can you do when your iphone acts suspicious and weird. Well, according to the internet, apple phones can act a bit strange.  iPhone6 and 6s are prone to blur screen, and software crashes and the most common frozen screen.

Follow these steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Restart your phone ( press home & start button for 10seconds).
  2. You may have to repeat step 1 for few times before it really works.
  3. If the restart fails than try to restore the phone. This means you would loose some information from your phone. Plug your phone to your computer while pressing the home button. Realize the home button, once you see connecting to iTunes on your phone screen. Go ahead and restore your phone. You may have to try this step few times before it really works.
  4. If step 3 fails, most probably it’s the end of your phone. Visit your nearest Apple store or service provider.

Note: Visit only Apple store if visiting abroad. Authorised service providers will not able to help since you need the proof of purchase.

Happy setting the new phone.

Did you know that mini skirts are perfect for winter. Yes, you heard me. Mini skirts are perfect for winter. Blake lively and Alexa Chung are our muse for this look. They definitely know how to rocks this number like no one else.

I love wearing my Topshop denim skirt with cosy knitwear. You could wear this outfit in so many different ways. Adding a tight is the good way to accessorise during winter. There are some many colourful and patterned options to choose from. If you fancy a old school gossip girl, Serena kinda look than go for a  plaid skirt, over the knee socks and lace up booties.

Personally I am not a big fan of tights. But, I do wear them occasionally and try to keep it fun and add some character. A perfect way to avoid wearing your boring black tights is to invest into over the knee boots. This year I am all about the OTK boots. They can be worn in so many different ways. I like to pair them with cute skirts, dresses and sometimes with jeans. I will avoid pairing them with ultra sexy body corn dresses, leather skirts and basically anything too sexy.

Here are some of my favourites to create the WINTER MINI look:

Sartorial guide for transitioning into Autumn

S5

Hi Lovelies! Are you ready for another manic Monday? Last week was amazing! I managed to get few things off my long pending to do list. I finally had the courage to face my phone disaster. After all, it wasn’t as bad I imagined to be. Apple replaced my water damaged phone with a brand new IPhone 6 for half the price. That means exciting new stories on snapchat and track full of selfies on Instagram. Haha… just kidding 🙂 The second best thing was booking my travel to Dubai and India. So, If you in Dubai and want to catch up for a coffee or dance, call me!

Pink suit by TOPSHOP, Sunglasses RAY BAN, Shoes by TOPSHOP

Here is guide to look effortlessly chic for autumn. Get ready to stock up on those timeless and weather friendly pieces. Fitted turtlenecks, trench coats, dark denims, high boots and faux fur are some of the pieces that never go out of style.

Colour coordinating/one colour suit

Colour coordinating is the next big trend and it’s here to stay. Prada AW2015 girls looked young, vibrant and very lady like. Double breasted Salmon pink suit was my favourite look from the show. Well, I did manage to get my hands on this dream suit without going bankrupt. Seriously, thank god for TOPSHOP.

Outwear

Do you understand the feeling when you not sure which coat to wear? And 90% of the time end up feeling too cold or too hot? Transitioning into autumn is always going to be the difficult one. Choosing the right coat is the key to keep you safe from the unexpected showers to dropping temperatures. Long autumn trench to heavier leather jackets are my personally favourite. They are easy to layer underneath and super easy to get ride of if needed.

Layer me baby

The best thing about autumn/winter is I get to bring out my turtlenecks. Cold weather mean only one thing and one thing. Bring on the turtlenecks! They play a very important part in layering this autumn/winter outfits.

Cold feet

Everyone wants cosy feet during this weather, but this shouldn’t mean compromising on your style. This winter we have so much to choose from. Few of my favourites are thigh high, ankle sock boots, fury feet and Mary Jane.

The hush before the winter. Happy fall everyone 🙂
