Last week I tried juicing cleanse, so here is my experience and everything you need to know about juicing. Honestly, this is one of the hardest thing I have done in my life. This cleanse was on my list for a while now and I finally  had the courage to face this. Some of you may think why Am I so melodramatic. Well, because the hardest part about the detox was psychological and I am so proud that I didn’t cave in.

So here is my experience and fact about juicing. I hope this encourages you to start a healthy lifestyle.

Why did I want to detox?

The first question everyone asked was “Why did you go on this cleanse when you are already skinny? So, first of all I did not start this detox to loose any weight. As most of you know I train hard and workout regularly to stay fit. Last year I was diagnosed for hay fever. So I was sick most of all spring until end of summer. People with this condition will understand how difficult it is to wake up in the morning with itchy eyes and sneezing all day. With this detox I was hoping to boost my immune system for spring. A detox like this is not a cure to hay fever, however I have prescribed medication for this condition.

Fun facts:Research and study says that plant-based juice diet allows food to be assimilated quickly through the intestine — consuming less energy, while the toxin-free, nutrient-dense food helps to repair the gut itself.

Did I loose any weight?

As I said before, I did not go on this cleanse to loose weight. The fact is I did not weigh myself before and after so I wouldn’t know.

What was my diet consist of?

For the last 3 days I only had liquids. No solid food at all. My morning started with 2 glasses of water. Cup of detox tea after half an hour. First juice before leaving to work, I called it mean green because It was less tasty then the rest. It had green apple, spinach, celery, ginger, cucumber and coconut water.

I would make my second juice and carry it with me to work. This was the delicious smoothie which had lots of good stuff for e.g.: banana and almond milk. I will have 2 small cups every 2 hour. By afternoon I was craving for coffee. My body was use to getting caffeine dose around this time so I felt a bit sleepy and had a cup of tea instead. By day 3 I was well adjusted to tea and did not seem to miss caffeine any more.

Then came night, the hardest. My mornings and day went super easy it was the night that I thought of giving in until the last day. My previous routine was work, home, snack, gym and end with light dinner. Well, I stayed in at  nights and and try to keep myself busy. I could not concentrate well at night so instead of fighting I treated myself to house of card marathon.

Did I work out?

I had done some research and reading before going on this cleanse, and it clearly said not to indulge in intense workout and training. I found this extremely difficult to skip gym 3 days in a row. I am a gym junkie and love training. By day 2 I practiced yoga and meditation in the mornings this really helped me calm my nerves and accept the changes.

Was I starving and did I feel hungry?

No. I did not feel hungry. I was drinking every 2 hours which kept full all time.

Was I tired?

Well, I started this on my day off. I knew first day will be the hardest.  On day 2 and 3 I was at work. It went really fast because I was super busy and it kept my mind of food. On my last day I got my period, by this time I didn’t want to quit and start over again. Usually, first day of period I have stomach cramps and severe pain, however on my detox I didn’t have any of these symptoms in fact I felt way better and stronger.

How did this detox help me?

Yes, I feel super energetic and healthy from inside. I have much more energy throughout the day and find it easy to wake up in the morning. Study says that juicing cleanse will help control cravings and excessive eating. After  finishing this cleanse I started to appreciate small things like eating a whole apple. During this detox I realised how much I had missed just eating a whole fruit. Detox like this will help you sustain and build new eating habits.

Do I want to do this cleanse again?

Yes, definitely. I would love to do this every 3 to 6 months.

So this was my journey and answers to some of your questions. Feel free to comment below and share your thoughts. Let me know if you have any questions.

Good morning lovers,

It’s been a long time since my last fitness post, so today I am sharing some of my essentials for running. I love running outdoor during spring. Spring is so special, it’s natures way of saying let’s party. The rain brings the life back to plants and soon it’s all lush green around

” Anyone who thinks sunshine is pure happiness has never run in the rain”

Since spring is all about running for us, we decided to share some of our favourite running essential. If you want to take running seriously then it’s very important to invest into proper running gear. During my days off I like to go for long distance run… 10KM or more. So my feet needs all the support and cushioning to prevent injury and henance performance. Last month I treated myself to Nike Zoom Vomero 11, I am so happy with them. They are perfect for outdoor long runs and give great cushioning and support.

Spring is kinda of in between weather, not too cold nor too hot. So I have to be carefully what I wear. Extra layers might feel comfortable in the beginning but after a mile it could be a burden and slow you down. I am in love with my long sleeve shirt., It’s perfect for almost every weather. During winter I like to wear a jacket over it, but for slightly warmer days just the shirt is enough. It keeps me super warm and dry. The Dri-Fit fabric evaporates liquids super fast, keeping you nice and dry through out your run. Spring means lots of unexpected showers, I highly recommend to use Nike Dri-Fit as it’s engineered to soak sweat and water and evaporate faster.

So all you beginners what are you waiting for? Get your gear and get running!

Wishing you all a happy Easter weekend.

Vegan detox!

IMG_2766

Hi lovers,

How is everyone doing? I am assuming most of you must be busy tackling your New Year’s resolution. Me too! Once again my resolutions are pretty standard; live healthy, be happy, practice more gratitude and learn dutch. So I have been pretty busy to live up to my goals.

Last year around this time I tried the Vegan detox diet. After seeing some great changes; physically, mentally and spiritual. I have decided to do it again! Here is everything you need to know about this cleanse. I have tried my best to explain what, why &  how this cleanse will work.

What is a Vegan detox?

Cleansing is become a big trend in wellness world. During this detox I will follow a plant based diet and avoid unhealthy and processed foods.

Why I need a detox?

This is my magic pill! I felt alive and energised like never before. This detox helped me restart and jumpstart my healthy habits. Simply eating 100% natural diet helps remove all the toxins and cleanse our system. You’ll wake up with a strange sensation: energy. Eating natural is like feeding your soul; I started to sleep better, have better moods, I could work long hours without feeling tired and most of all I felt happy and healthy from inside.

I decided to research a little before doing such a thing. I was surprise to find so much information. There is a cleanse and detox available for all kind of things. The internet says that it takes about 72 hours for your body to clean and realise all the toxins. However, I decided to follow this for a month. My goal is to detox and train myself to eat healthy. After a month, I want my palate to be excited for a grill asparagus and broccoli and have cravings for banana chips. During this detox I will not starve myself. Instead, I will eat nutritiously and consciously. A good diet and training can do miracles. So, I will stick to my old training routines, wherein I try my best to workout twice. Morning yoga is my wake up call and evenings I have more time to train.

Today I am sharing one of my best found recipe. This pumpkin lentil soup will sure get you excited to start that detox.

Good morning lovers! It’s only Wednesday and I am already back with a new post! Hope you guys had a great start into  a new week. Mine was going just fine until the flowers in my stylist room decided to attack me and bring me down with a crazy allergy. Waking up every morning with a series of sneezes is not funny any more. I really started to think I might have a brain damage.  Thank god for a day off! I am taking a break from my pretty flowers. They are so beautiful that I don’t have the heart to throw them away.  However, I do secretly wish for them to die soon! Well, wish me luck.

Hello September! Fashions most favourite month. I believe I am going to have a best September too. Well, 1st of September started with a bang for me. And this time I am not talking about my allergy! I can not say more, but I promise to share with you at the right time.

What do you guys think about my Ear-cuff? Aren’t they lovely? I am in love with them. I did my casual tuesday with a little bling bling. As I walked from Amsterdam central station to work… everyone couldn’t stop to stare at my ear. Well, who cares. I love them! I needed that little bling for the special day. After having a good day at work. It was nice to take some pictures of my outfit with my dear friend Matilda. We only took 15mins for the picture and we were off for a lovely meal.

Wish you guys a good September!

I will be back soon!

Love,

Cocolett

1000 kilometer with Nike plus!

P1120405

Good morning lovers, hope you had a good weekend. Well, I am so excited to share my story “1000 kilometre with Nike plus “.

Lately I have been having too many cheat days. So, I have decided to bring myself back to a detox routine. As we all know, first few days are the toughest but I am determine to push through this.  Keep sending your positive energy and comments my way, it really helps and keeps me motivated.

It’s nearly 5 years ago that I first went on a run using Nike Plus app. A friend of mine introduced  me to this whole new world of running. My first run was bad! I was slow. I didn’t know how to pace myself. I didn’t have the stamina and my thoughts controlled my performance. Most of all, I didn’t know how to control my breathing or right way to breath while running. It took me while to train.

WORD “Don’t practice to get it right. Practice until you can’t get it wrong.” So, that’s exactly what I did. I am not afraid to go out for a run anytime of day or night. I have run through sunshine, rain and winter.

So if you are a beginner runner or interested in getting started? This is what you need to know.

1) Mostly running is an argument between part of you that wants to STOPS and part of you that wants to keep GOING! First few days will be more exhausting because you would be physically and mentally tired. Keep reminding yourself why you started in first place.

2) I have struggled a lot to master the right breathing technique. If your confused and not sure if you have to breath through the mouth or nose? It’s very simple. When we’re running, feeding our muscles the oxygen they need is ver important. So, breathing through the mouth is the most effective way to inhale and exhale oxygen.

3) Last but not least. If you have decided to take running seriously than it’s important you invest into right running gear. I am in love with my Nike Lunar glide4. These shoes have taken me through the mountains of Nepal, snow, rain and sunshine.

Well, this is one of my favourite topic I wanted to write about. So it was hard for me to keep it short and sweet. However, If you need to know more or think I should be writing more specifics? Feel free to Hola at me and leave your comment!

Unless you puke, faint or die. Keep going!

Have a healthy week!

Love
